THE NEW ME... DRAINED (DAY 47) - A gluten free, natural sugars, less alcohol diet

Chicken tikkad escalope

Busy day again yesterday.  Felt absolutely shattered.

Don't know where the hours went yesterday.  Tidied the house, put some washing on, hung it up, did some shopping with Taff, and made a cake, the day was gone.  I did go back to bed a couple of times as I was absolutely shattered and drained and felt crook (time of the month).

Taff did the ironing (such a star) whilst watching the rugby.  When I eventually got to chilling out, I watched half an hour of a German film called 'Barbara' before a neighbour-friend popped in for some wine and a chat.  It was great to see her and to listen to all her adventures in Poland.  She even brought us back a gnome cake mould! :) Actually it's a dwarf really from Wroclaw, Western Poland, but it looks like a gnome, so a gnome it shall be.

I love gnomes.  Every summer, for the past 3 years, I've run a free gnome fostering and adoption service. Gnomes appear on our doorstep, often with a rhyme, requesting a makeover.  Sometimes they need a new home; other times they're just looking to be fostered until they have a new set of clothes.  They then go back with a rhyme.

Nancy our pussycat loves gnomes too.  As part of 'Tales of Nancy Jones' Taff has written a story called 'Nancy and the Gnomes'.  I was even, coincidently, a gnome in the Brownies when I was a child.

When the weather gets warmer, I shall start my backlog of gnomes and other garden ornaments again.

It was lovely to sit out on the step yesterday as a family, in the sun.  Still a tad chilly though.

Taff made this amazing escalope which he'd tikkad - grilled in a curried yoghurt.  The amazing thing about this tikka version is that I only end up eating just 1 chicken breast instead of 2, like with our traditional chicken tikka.
